OAK PARK GARDEN GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
April 21, 2011

 

 

The President, Roseanne Parino, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

Board Members Present: Roseanne Parino, President; Vicki Rankin, Vice President; Nate Cox, Secetary.


Minutes:
The motion was made and seconded to approve the March meeting minutes as distributed.Ê All approved.Ê There were no February meeting minutes distributed, read, or approved as this meeting did not take place due to cancellation.


President's Report:
1) Compost was moved to a better location within the garden
2) Porta-potty is still absent, but the proposed installation remains in progress
3) President has found, and will procure for experimental use, a sample of new, natural squirrel repellant



Vice PresidentÕs Report:
Many new parcels have been taken, leaving only a few left open. People on waiting list are being contacted in due order.

 

Treasurer's Report:

The Treasurer was not present to give report. It is as follows:

Income: $ 991.00 (parcel rentals and deposits)
Expenses: $2,619.63
ÊÊ (expenses included annual Post Office Box rental of $44.00, parcel and tool purchase/repair
reimbursements.)
Compost $1,097.50
Earth Day supplies $280.00
water bill, $1013.42
trash pickup, $72.00
Net Income: $1,628.63

Old Business:

1) Rats/Gophers/Squirrels/Mice: Timmy volunteered to work with local raptor rescue/relocation agencies to look into the possibility of installing/relocating an owl to the garden vicinity.
2) Grasshoppers: Grasshoppers are showing up again. It had been previously planned to order bait, and spread it by end of March. This was not accomplished according to plan, but bait is to be purchased and spread during an upcoming work-day in the near future (exact date TBD).
3) Community Pot-luck:Ê Both an E-mail and an E-vite sent out to members inviting them to the community pot-luck on May 1st.

New Business:

1) Proposed work day for an upcoming Saturday either in May or June set do the following:
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ a. Move owl box:
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ i.Ê to a higher location
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ ii. to a shadier location
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ b. Distribute grasshopper bait
ÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊÊ c. Perform wood-chip replacement in common areas and walkways
2) Members and board discussed ordering more U.C. gardening books for the new/incoming OPCG members.Ê Members who have copies will look for publisherÕs information and get said information to the board for purposes of re-ordering more copies.
